At Lagasse Branch Bell + Kinkead, we recognize that we are nothing without the communities where we live and work. We are proud to provide pro bono legal services to key initiatives and non-profit organizations. Our attorneys also dedicate time, energy and resources to philanthropy in our communities. LBBK is proud to actively support the following organizations and initiatives.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego (BBBS)
BBBS is a nonprofit organization designed to help vulnerable children succeed through one-on-one mentoring relationships. Our firm has been committed to BBBS for many years. We have provided pro bono legal services to BBBS, and our employees have served as big brothers and big sisters. Our firm sponsors a table at the organization’s annual fundraising dinner and silent auction, and we have hosted separate annual fundraising events designed to support one of the organization’s current initiatives.
California Innocence Project
The Innocence Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to freeing the wrongfully convicted and changing laws and policies in the State of California to improve California’s justice system. Our firm provides pro bono legal services for the Innocence Project, including reviewing the applications and legal files of individuals seeking to prove innocence of crimes for which they have been wrongfully convicted and making recommendations relating to representation by the Project.
Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program
Our attorneys regularly volunteer as legal experts in this program designed to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity in the local Southern California community by providing them with resources they need to grow and create jobs. Our attorneys speak on employment-related topics at the Los Angeles and Long Beach legal clinics, and meet with small business owners to provide volunteer legal counseling services on employment and contractual issues.
HOME Foundation
The HOME Foundation is a non-profit organization engaged in a mission to enhance the quality of life for seniors in our communities through caring service, fulfilling essential needs, and providing education to caregivers. Our firm supports its mission through various activities, including sponsorship of and participation in its annual fundraising golf tournament.
Junior Leagues of San Diego and Los Angeles (JL)
JL is an educational and charitable organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers serving on various committees. Several of our attorneys are active members of JL and have served on various JL committees, including Strategic Planning, Public Policy Institute, and Board Fellows.
Kids Included Together (KIT)
KIT is a nonprofit organization founded in San Diego in 1997 to break down barriers to inclusion for children with disabilities, complex needs and challenging behaviors. KIT envisions a world where inclusion is the norm, not the exception. Through KIT, one of our partners helps teach inclusive practices to individuals and organizations who serve children.
Mental Health Systems (MHS)
MHS is an agency founded to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities facing substance abuse and behavioral health challenges through rehabilitation services. Our firm provides various donations to support the important services provided by MHS.
Mothers and Daughters Club Assisting Philanthropies (MADCAPS)
MADCAPS is a private, nonprofit service organization that involves mothers and daughters in direct service to and support of established philanthropic organizations. MADCAPS provides training in philanthropic commitments and teaches personal responsibility, as well as responsibility to the needs of others. One of our partners is a long-time active member of MADCAPS, who has helped raise thousands of dollars and volunteered hundreds of hours to local philanthropies.
Notre Dame Club of San Diego
The Notre Dame Club extends Notre Dame’s tradition of service to the San Diego area by organizing and participating in service events, donation drives and fundraisers to benefit local charities. One of our attorneys serves on the Club’s Board and helps the organization to promote Camaraderie, Community Service, Continuing Education, Current Students, Catholic/Christian Spirituality, and Career Connections.
PurpleStride
PurpleStride is a nonprofit organization aimed at raising awareness about the critical mission of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and hosting events that contribute to funding research and supporting patients with Pancreatic Cancer. One of our attorneys regularly participates in PurpleStride’s 5k run and helps raise funds and awareness in the local Southern California community.
Stand Up For Kids
Stand Up For Kids is an organization whose mission aims to help homeless and street kids through outreach and support programs. Our firm hosts dinner the third Friday of each month for homeless teens at the organization’s outreach center in downtown San Diego. We also provide financial support for outreach programs and donate clothing and other items for the teens.
SurfAid International
SurfAid International is a non-profit humanitarian organization that partners with communities and governments, and works to prevent disease, suffering, and death through educational programs and health promotion designed to change poor health behaviors and reduce the risk from natural disasters. Each year, one of our partners helps raise funds and awareness every year for SurfAid in the local Southern California community.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a non-profit organization working to end breast cancer through ground-breaking research, community health outreach encouraging early detection and effective treatment, and programs designed to raise awareness. One of our attorneys has participated in the 3-Day Walk for more than ten years, walking 60 miles over three days to raise funds and awareness that help support local public health outreach programs in San Diego County.
ZLAC Women’s Rowing Club
Founded in 1892, ZLAC is the oldest women’s rowing club in the world. ZLAC’s purposes are to promote rowing and other athletic activities, and to provide social and recreational activities for its members, including one of our partners.
