Dorothea S. Galdo is an associate attorney in the firm’s Tort and Professional Liability Practice Groups in the San Francisco Office. Prior to joining LBBK, Ms. Galdo represented product manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and building owners in complex environmental and toxic tort personal injury and wrongful death actions in California and Illinois. She served as national and regional counsel and managed all aspects of litigation from case inception to successful resolution, including discovery, depositions, law and motion, and trial preparation. Ms. Galdo has authored winning motions for summary judgment on behalf of her clients and served as National Discovery Counsel for a prominent product manufacturer and assisted its litigation needs across the United States.
Ms. Galdo’s experience in both private and public legal sectors have given her perspective on assessing and meeting her clients’ needs to deliver results and mitigate risk. She was inspired to go to law school from the advocacy work she observed from her employment at the California Appellate Project (CAP) in San Francisco, a non-profit corporation which serves as a legal resource center for indigent persons facing capital punishment, and their right to counsel.
In law school, she served as a judicial extern to the Hon. Judicial Magistrate Maria-Elena James (RET.) at the U.S. District Court of Northern California, and to the Hon. Judge Stuart Hing at the Alameda Superior Court in Oakland, California. At the Alameda Superior Court, she assisted with court mediation proceedings between pro per parties to encourage civil discourse and resolution regarding restraining order disputes. She also worked at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office where she second chaired four misdemeanor trials.
Ms. Galdo promotes diverse representation and inclusivity in the legal field. She served as President for law school student organizations, such as the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA) and held leadership roles with the Pilipino American Law Society (PALS). She organized school wide study programs to assist first-year first-generation law students with educational and wellness resources. She was awarded GGU Law’s prestigious Rose Elizabeth Bird Award for Professionalism and Integrity, and the Paul S. Jordan Achievement Award for Service and Contribution. She continues to mentor aspiring attorneys and welcomes conversations about being a working mom in the legal field.
