Jessica L. Ortega is an associate specializing in appellate law and a member of the firm’s litigation team with a focus on strategy, law, and motions. Mrs. Ortega has substantial experience in preparing pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, post-trial motions, and writs in both Federal and State Courts.
Prior to joining Lagasse Branch Bell + Kinkead, Mrs. Ortega worked in the law and motion practice group at a prominent national law firm, where her practice focused on representing government entities and members of law enforcement in both state and federal court. Additionally, Mrs. Ortega has experience representing plaintiffs in class actions, product liability, mass torts, business fraud, and consumer protection litigation.
Mrs. Ortega graduated with honors from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in History. Following her time at UC Irvine, Mrs. Ortega attended law school at Pepperdine University School of Law. Mrs. Ortega also received a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. During her time at Pepperdine, she was the Managing Editor of Pepperdine’s Dispute Resolution Law Journal; had her journal article, “The Possibility of Using Alternative Dispute Resolution for Election Law Disputes”, published in Volume XVIII of the Pepperdine Dispute Resolution Law Journal; served as a Co-Chair of the Pepperdine Law Honor Board; and was an Assistant Resident Director for Pepperdine University Housing and Residence Life. Additionally, as a law student, Ms. Becerra was a judicial extern for the Honorable Mark Houle in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.
Mrs. Ortega is a member of the California State Bar and is also admitted to the Bar of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the Eastern District of California, and the Northern District of California.
