Since 2000, Ryan Blackstone-Gardner has practiced law in state, federal, bankruptcy, and tribal courts in the areas of employment, business, intellectual property, and general civil litigation. He has extensive experience in every aspect of these areas of law, including oral and written discovery, mediation, law and motion, trial preparation and trial of cases, as well as defending matters through binding arbitrations.
The core of Mr. Blackstone-Gardner’s current practice is the provision of wide-ranging legal services to employers, including publicly traded and privately owned businesses, and public entities. His present work is primarily focused on the defense of wage and hour class actions and Private Attorney General Act representative actions, as well as whistleblower and Fair Employment and Housing Act actions. Mr. Blackstone-Gardner also provides employment counseling to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, accommodations for and responding to employee medical leaves of absence, workplace privacy issues, responding to employee complaints of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, and on wage and hour issues. As part of his legal services to his clients, he also responds to agency charges and investigations, including those conducted by the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, Department of Fair Employment & Housing, Labor Workforce Development Agency, Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, and Employment Development Department. He also provides guidance to clients to ensure their compliance with public contracting, the Brown Act, HIPAA, Stark, and anti-kickback statutes. Mr. Blackstone-Gardner also provides interactive training for employers and employees in the areas of workplace harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, promoting workplace cultures free of such conduct.
As a registered patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Blackstone-Gardner represents clients in preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark application and provides counseling in trademark infringement and trademark cancellation litigation proceedings.
Mr. Blackstone-Gardner also assist clients in business transactions, drafting licensing, non-disclosure and business consulting agreements, and assisting clients with corporate formation and maintenance.
