Sevan Gobel

Overview

Sevan Gobel is a partner in the Tort and Professional Liability Practice Groups in the firm’s Los Angeles office. He specializes in civil litigation defense. Mr. Gobel handles complex and high exposure cases in both state and federal courts for prominent national and international clients. He has successfully tried, arbitrated and mediated numerous cases and has obtained countless successful results in summary judgment motions, writs and appeals. He also serves as National Discovery Counsel for prominent clients to assist with their litigation needs in various states. As a result of his repeated retention in complex and high exposure cases, Mr. Gobel has become a seasoned and battle-tested litigator, obtaining results not thought possible for his clients. He brings a unique approach to litigation through professionalism, integrity, zealous representation and willingness to go to battle on behalf of his clients. He represents and advises several Fortune 500 companies on various legal matters and lectures on various topics.

Mr. Gobel heads the Sports, Recreation, Entertainment & Media Litigation practice group, which provides a variety of legal services required by clients and their insurers in these high-profile and high-exposure industries. Under his guidance, the team has developed practical expertise and tools to deal with complex legal challenges that are inherent in the interrelated industries of sports, recreation, entertainment, and media, along with personal injury, employment and professional liability claims and suits handled by the specialty lines of major insurance providers. Mr. Gobel has an impressive track record of representing entertainment and recreation venues, including music and film festivals, theaters, stadiums, nightclubs, live music venues, convention centers, amusement parks, water parks and zoos; athletes, coaches, managers, trainers and teams for professional, collegiate and amateur sports and martial arts studios; and professionals and talent in the motion picture, television, music, print and online media industries. As proud as he is with his success in the courtroom, he is equally proud of the ability to facilitate resolution outside of litigation.

Mr. Gobel has accumulated vast knowledge and experience in handling a broad spectrum of tort liability cases, including product liability claims, lawsuits involving retail, restaurant and hospitality clients, security officer and facility services litigation, trucking and transportation claims, construction defect cases, ADA compliance claims, lawsuits involving governmental entity liability, lawsuits against educational and religious institutions, intentional torts, environmental/toxic torts, traumatic brain injury cases, and catastrophic losses and high exposure claims. When litigation cannot be avoided, Mr. Gobel works with clients to formulate and tailor litigation strategy to the complexity of claim and nature of damages at issue. His commitment to providing clients with superior legal representation in a cost-effective manner is the primary reason he has gained the trust of clients and their insurers to solidify long lasting relationships. He also has significant appellate practice experience, including published opinions, on various tort liability issues.

Mr. Gobel was an adjunct associate professor of law at Southwestern University School of Law teaching sports law. He holds his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and accounting (1999) from California State University, Long Beach and his Juris Doctor from Southwestern University School of Law (2002).

Outside of his law practice, Mr. Gobel enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys and is an avid sports fan, including rooting on the Los Angeles Kings, Dodgers and Lakers and Philadelphia Eagles.
